Short answer: Based on published specs, the Sun Home Equinox 2 is our best overall 2-person pick: full spectrum, a 120V/20A dedicated circuit, a 7-year warranty and published EMF and air-quality summaries. On a budget, look at the Dynamic Barcelona, but it’s snug for two. For the lightest circuit in full spectrum, the Finnmark FD-2 uses a 15A plug. For peak heat, the Sunlighten Amplify II. For built-in red light, the Sun Home Eclipse 2, which needs a 30A twist-lock circuit.
How we chose: These are research-based picks. ContrastNest has not bought, used, sat in, assembled or measured any sauna here. We compared manufacturer and dealer spec pages, manuals, warranty documents, published third-party reviews and cited owner reports, checked on November 1, 2026, with prices, warranties and links re-checked on November 3, 2026. Any heat-up time, temperature or EMF number belongs to the source we name.

How we chose: research methodology, not hands-on
Criteria
- Fit for two adults: published dimensions, door opening and bench height, and any third-party note about real-world fit.
- Circuit: what you’ll need in the wall, from a 15A plug to a 30A twist-lock.
- Heater coverage: how many heaters, what type, and where (back, sides, front, calves, floor).
- Documentation: whether EMF or air-quality numbers exist, and who measured them.
- Warranty: length and what’s covered (parts, labor, shipping).
- Price per square foot of footprint.
What we did not do
We did not heat any cabin, time warm-ups, measure bench temperatures, read EMF with a meter or assemble one. Publications that say they tested a sauna, such as The Spruce, are cited as third-party reports.
Will two adults actually fit? Width, depth, height, bench

Interior width and bench depth decide whether two adults sit comfortably. Some makers publish them; others give only exterior size. Here’s what each page shows:
| Model | Exterior W × D × H (in) | Footprint | Interior W × D × H (in) | Bench / other fit data |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sun Home Solstice 2 | 50.9 × 45.9 × 77.7 | 16.2 sq ft | Not listed | 28″ door; 19.5″ bench height |
| Sun Home Equinox 2 | 50.9 × 45.9 × 77.7 | 16.2 sq ft | Not listed | 45″ bench; 28″ door; 19.5″ bench height |
| Sun Home Eclipse 2 | 51.5 × 47.2 × 76.7 | 16.9 sq ft | Height 71.5″ | Not listed |
| Sunlighten Amplify II | 50.9 × 45.9 × 77.7 | 16.2 sq ft | 45.4 × 39.9 × 70.3 | Bench 45.2″ W × 20.3″ D |
| Clearlight Sanctuary 2 | 51¾ × 47¾ × 77 | 17.2 sq ft | 46½ × 44¼ × 72½ | Bench 44½” W × 21¾” D |
| Finnmark FD-2 | 48 × 43.5 × 78.3 | 14.5 sq ft | 44.3 × 39.8 × 70.5 | Bench 44.3″ W × 21.7″ D |
| Dynamic Barcelona | 39 × 36 × 73 | 9.8 sq ft | 36 × 32 × 67 | Dealer: “ideal for 1 person” |
Sources: Sun Home Solstice 2, Equinox 2 and Eclipse 2 measurement blocks; Sunlighten Amplify II; Topture FD-2; Clearlight Sanctuary 2; Wellness Matrix Barcelona. Width is the side-to-side measurement where makers label it; Sun Home labels 50.9″ as width and 45.9″ as length.
What this tells you:
- About 4 feet wide outside is the norm for a true two-seater. At roughly 51″, the Sun Home and Sunlighten cabins leave room for two people side by side, with wall thickness taken out.
- Under about 40″ wide is a stretch for two adults. The Spruce, which reports testing the Barcelona, said its bench was most comfortable for one person even though it’s marketed for two (The Spruce).
- Ask for interior width and bench depth before you buy. If two broad-shouldered adults will sit together, a 3-person cabin may be the better buy.
Best overall 2-person: Sun Home Equinox 2
Approx. price: ~$6,799 (Sun Home, as of November 2026).
The Equinox 2 leads on the combination of circuit, warranty and documentation, not on any test of ours. Deep dive: Sun Home Equinox 2-person.
- Heat: full spectrum, rated to 165°F by Sun Home. Sun Home describes it as “pairing full-spectrum heaters with far-infrared panels” and lists three-level heater intensity control. Some third-party coverage lists 170°F; we follow Sun Home.
- Electrical: 120V, 1,880W, on a dedicated 20A GFCI-protected circuit with a NEMA 5-20P plug (Sun Home electrical overview). Sun Home rules out shared outlets and extension cords.
- Wood: eucalyptus.
- Warranty: 7 years on cabinetry and heaters, 3 years on controls; replacement parts only. Labor isn’t covered, and freight for parts shipped more than 90 days after delivery is excluded (Sun Home warranty).
- EMF and air quality: Sun Home publishes a brand-level Vitatech Electromagnetics summary (VTE-3534, January 2025) reporting 0.3–0.9 mG at three feet across its 120V and 230V heater configurations, and cabin-air testing of one sauna (VERT Environmental, analyzed by LA Testing, April 2026) showing 27 µg/m³ total VOCs. Sun Home notes the results apply to the tested unit and conditions.
- Price per footprint sq ft: about $419.
Trade-offs: no red light; the 20A dedicated circuit means many homes need an electrician; the warranty doesn’t cover labor. Sun Home’s return policy doesn’t accept assembled or used saunas.
Best 120V plug-in 2-person: Finnmark FD-2
Approx. price: ~$5,995 at several authorized dealers (Topture, Select Saunas, SaunaHeaters.com, Premium Saunas, Solaci Home); Topture re-checked as of November 2026.
Among the full-spectrum two-seaters we checked, the FD-2 has the lightest electrical requirement: a 15A plug rather than 20A or 30A.
- Electrical: 120V, 1,750W, 15A, NEMA 5-15P (dealer spec tables reproducing Finnmark’s specs).
- Heaters: four Spectrum Plus heaters plus two Spectrum Carbon panels. Dealer pages describe the Spectrum Plus units as Incoloy-sheathed elements.
- Heat: maximum 170°F. Topture, citing Finnmark’s manual, says about 15–20 minutes to a comfortable temperature and 55–60 minutes to reach the maximum, which may not be reached in every room.
- Build: Western Red Cedar interior, Thermo-Aspen exterior; 48 × 43.5 × 78.3 inches outside, 44.3 × 39.8 × 70.5 inside, 393 lb (Topture spec table).
- Warranty: the warranty PDF linked from Finnmark’s own warranty page (a Bathing Brands document dated July 2026) lists 5 years on the cabin structure, controls and wiring, heater components and audio, and 1 year on the cover (Finnmark warranty PDF). The web page text still mentions an “unconditional lifetime warranty” on Spectrum Plus heaters (Finnmark warranty page), and an older 2022 sheet listed 10 years on the cabin, so confirm in writing which terms apply to your order.
- EMF: marketed as “Low EMF”; we found no linked report.
- Price per footprint sq ft: about $413.
A conflict to know about: dealers disagree about whether it needs its own circuit. Topture says a “dedicated 15A outlet”; Solaci Home describes it as usable “without a dedicated electrical circuit.” At 1,750W the draw is about 14.6A, close to a 15A limit, and heaters count as continuous loads. Plan on a dedicated circuit and have an electrician confirm it. See circuit each 2-person sauna needs.
Best budget 2-person: Dynamic Barcelona
Approx. price: ~$1,800–$2,100 as of November 2026: $1,899 at Wellness Matrix and $2,099 at Dynamic Saunas Direct; The Spruce’s page showed $1,800 at Amazon and $1,900 at Lowe’s.
The Barcelona (DYN-6106-01) is the cheapest well-documented cabin we found that’s sold as a two-person unit, with an honest caveat about fit.
- Heat: six carbon far-infrared panels. An authorized dealer lists an ideal range of 118–132°F and a maximum of 140°F. The Spruce, which reports testing it, said it reached 140°F in 25 to 30 minutes.
- Electrical: 120V/15A, non-GFCI, dedicated outlet recommended (authorized dealer listing). The pages we checked don’t publish wattage.
- Build: Canadian hemlock, about 39 × 36 × 73 inches, roughly 250 lb.
- Warranty: Golden Designs, the maker, lists 5 years on heating elements and electronics for residential use and 1 year on the wood structure (Golden Designs warranty).
- EMF: a dealer lists 5–10 mG at 2–3 inches from a panel; we found no independent lab report.
- Price per footprint sq ft: about $185–$215.
Trade-offs: The Spruce found the bench most comfortable for one person and the instructions unclear. Expect lower peak heat, a shorter warranty and less documentation than the premium picks.
Best full spectrum 2-person: Sunlighten Amplify II
Approx. price: ~$5,999 sale, $6,899 list for the 2-person Eucalyptus model (Sunlighten US store, as of November 2026).
- Heaters: 5 far-infrared (Sunlighten’s SoloCarbon) plus 3 full-spectrum heaters; Sunlighten says halogen heaters add heat.
- Heat: “Reaching 170°F,” per the product page; the collection page adds “in ideal conditions” (Sunlighten).
- Electrical: 120V, 1,880W, 15.67A, on a dedicated 20A circuit and outlet (NEMA 5-20R).
- Build: 50.9 × 45.9 × 77.7 inches outside; 45.4 × 39.9 × 70.3 inside; bench 45.2″ W × 20.3″ D; 541 lb, eucalyptus.
- Warranty: 7 years residential on cabinetry (which Sunlighten defines as benches, floor grates and heater cover frames) and heaters, 3 years on controls and 1 year on glass doors and audio (Sunlighten warranty).
- EMF: the product page lists “Low EMF” among its features; we found no independent report for this model there.
- Price per footprint sq ft: about $370.
Alternative: Clearlight Sanctuary 2. Two 500W full-spectrum heaters plus carbon/ceramic far-infrared heaters, including under the floor; 120V, 2,260W, 18.83A, NEMA 5-20P plug. Limited lifetime residential warranty. Clearlight’s US price list showed $7,299 basswood ($7,899 regular) and $7,699 mahogany ($8,299 regular), labeled early Black Friday pricing for orders by November 30, as of November 2026 (Clearlight price list). Clearlight markets it as “Low EMF/ELF”; we found no linked report. Outside it measures 51¾ × 47¾ × 77 inches (450 lb); inside, 46½ × 44¼ × 72½ inches, with a 44½-inch-wide, 21¾-inch-deep bench. Clearlight recommends 4 inches around the cabin when building it in (Clearlight Sanctuary 2). About $425–$449 per footprint sq ft.

Best with red light: Sun Home Eclipse 2
Approx. price: ~$10,599 (Sun Home, as of November 2026).
- Heater coverage: Sun Home lists “three walls of far-infrared panels, adjustable full-spectrum heaters behind the backrests, a heated floor panel, and a dedicated calf heater,” plus built-in red light towers. That’s the most complete coverage list among our picks.
- Red light: dual panels at 650 nm and 850 nm; Sun Home lists 360 LEDs and 1,800W for the red light system. Sun Home itself says red light therapy is “a separate technology from infrared heat, and research on skin health and recovery is ongoing.”
- Electrical: 120V on a dedicated 30A circuit with a NEMA L5-30P twist-lock plug and a GFCI breaker, rated 2,820W. Sun Home says you’ll need an electrician “in most homes.” One source lists the Eclipse 2 as 240V; Sun Home’s pages say 120V/30A for the 2-person, and we follow the maker.
- Build: Japanese cedar interior; 51.5 × 47.2 × 76.7 inches outside, 71.5″ inside height, 600 lb.
- Warranty: limited lifetime on cabinetry and heaters, which Sun Home’s general terms define as up to seven years, 3 years on controls, 1 year on LED lighting, glass and audio; parts, labor and all shipping in the first 90 days (Sun Home warranty).
- Price per footprint sq ft: about $628.
Trade-offs: highest price here and the most demanding 120V circuit. On Reddit, one owner reports the 150s; another reports reaching the 165°F range after about 30 minutes. One buyer reported being surprised by the twist-lock plug (r/infraredsauna; r/infraredsauna). These are individual reports.
Also consider: Sun Home Solstice 2 (far infrared)
Approx. price: ~$6,199 (Sun Home, as of November 2026).
The Solstice 2 shares the Equinox 2’s footprint (50.9 × 45.9 × 77.7 in, 28″ door, 19.5″ bench height) at $600 less, with far infrared only. Sun Home lists it at up to 140°F (Solstice 2 page), at 2,006W on a dedicated 120V/20A circuit with a NEMA 5-20P plug. Warranty: 7 years, replacement parts only. About $382 per footprint sq ft.

About price per square foot: we divide price by the exterior footprint (width × depth) for every pick, because not every maker publishes interior dimensions. It’s a rough comparison, not a measure of usable seat space. About EMF: “low EMF” labels aren’t comparable unless the distance and method are stated; only Sun Home publishes a lab summary among these, and it’s manufacturer-commissioned (Sun Home safety testing).

Buying checklist for 2-person saunas

- Measure the room and the path in. Cabins ship as panels; check the largest panel against your doorways, stairs and hall turns with the seller.
- Leave clearance. Sun Home asks for 4–6 inches on the sides and 12–14 inches above the Eclipse roof; other makers differ, so follow your manual. See Home Sauna Setup Guide: Ventilation, Placement, Flooring, Drains, Permits and Power.
- Check ceiling height: most two-seaters stand about 77–78 inches tall, plus overhead clearance.
- Find the outlet location first. Makers such as Sun Home want a dedicated receptacle close by, with no extension cords. Match the plug: 5-15P, 5-20P or L5-30P.
- Budget for the circuit. Electrical is $0 if a dedicated 120V outlet exists; otherwise get a quote. See what it costs to install.
- Read the warranty definition, not just the headline: years, parts vs labor, shipping.
- Check the return policy. Some sellers refuse returns on assembled units.
- Ask for interior width and bench depth if two larger adults will sit together.
Owners describe a cabin topping out around 134°F after an hour on a 140°F setting; a commenter who said they work in the industry suggested a non-dedicated circuit can drop voltage by 10–15 volts (r/infraredsauna). One more reason to give the sauna its own circuit.
1-person or 3-person instead?
If you’ll mostly sauna alone, a single-seat cabin such as the Sun Home Pod (~$6,699 as of November 2026; 120V/20A GFCI, built-in red light) saves floor space. If two larger adults want to stretch out, a 3-person cabin such as the Equinox 3 (~$7,699) or Solstice 3 (~$6,999) costs only $800–$900 more than its 2-person version at Sun Home’s November 2026 prices. Compare all sizes in Best Infrared Saunas for Home (2026): A Research-Based Buyer’s Guide.
Health note: Talk to your doctor before using a sauna or cold plunge, especially if you are pregnant or have a heart condition, low or high blood pressure, or another health condition. See our Health Disclaimer.
Safety: We make no medical claims about any sauna. Mayo Clinic advises talking with your doctor before using an infrared sauna if you have health concerns (Mayo Clinic). Harvard Health suggests no more than 15–20 minutes, cooling down gradually and drinking two to four glasses of water afterward, and says not to take a sauna when you’re ill (Harvard Health). Poison Control says pregnant women and children are generally advised to avoid saunas, and to avoid alcohol and medication patches; leave if you feel dizzy, nauseated or have palpitations (Poison Control).
FAQs
What is the best 2-person infrared sauna?
Based on our research, the Sun Home Equinox 2: full spectrum, 120V/20A dedicated circuit, 165°F rating, 7-year parts warranty and published EMF and VOC summaries. The best choice depends on budget, circuit and whether you want red light.
What is the downside to an infrared sauna?
Lower air temperatures than a traditional sauna (140–170°F ratings here vs much higher for stone heaters), a dedicated circuit for most two-seaters, high prices for premium models, limited labor coverage on some warranties, and health evidence that comes mostly from traditional saunas. Compare in Infrared vs Traditional Sauna: Heat, Cost, Health Evidence and Which to Buy.
Do 2-person infrared saunas need a special outlet?
Usually a dedicated one. Our picks range from a 15A plug (Finnmark FD-2, Dynamic Barcelona) to a 20A NEMA 5-20 (Equinox 2, Solstice 2, Amplify II, Sanctuary 2) and a 30A twist-lock L5-30P (Eclipse 2). None of these needs 240V. Have an electrician confirm.
How much space do you need for a 2-person sauna?
Plan for a footprint of about 4 × 4 feet (roughly 14.5–17.2 sq ft for our full-size picks), plus the manual’s side and overhead clearance and room for the door to swing. Ceilings need to clear a cabin about 77–78 inches tall.
What is the best infrared sauna for home use in 2026?
For picks across all sizes, see Best Infrared Saunas for Home (2026): A Research-Based Buyer’s Guide.
Is a 2-person sauna big enough for two adults?
Usually. Where makers publish interiors, full-size two-seaters give about 44–46 inches of bench width and 20–22 inches of bench depth (Amplify II, Sanctuary 2, FD-2); the Equinox 2 lists a 45-inch bench. The Barcelona’s 36-inch-wide interior is sold as “ideal for 1 person,” and The Spruce found it most comfortable for one. If a model doesn’t publish its interior, ask before buying.
Bottom line
For most couples, the Equinox 2 balances heat, circuit and documentation. The Barcelona is the budget pick if one person uses it most. The FD-2 suits homes where a 20A circuit is hard to add, the Amplify II targets peak heat, and the Eclipse 2 is the red light option if you can add a 30A circuit. Confirm price, circuit and warranty terms before you buy.
